If you’re looking for a small town that gives you those Gilmore Girl vibes, put Kinderhook on your list.

With its historic charm, beautiful countryside, local farms, cozy cafes, and small businesses that make you want to slow down and stay a while, Kinderhook is the kind of place you can easily spend a day exploring, or turn into a relaxing weekend getaway.

It’s a town filled with the little things I love the most about Upstate New York: locally owned businesses, good food, friendly faces, and plenty of reasons to come back.

Think of this guide as your local friend giving you the inside scoop on where to eat, sip, shop, explore, and experience. But I really do have the local scoop, because I live here!

A Taste of What’s Inside

Eat at The Aviary

This is one of those places that makes a small-town night out feel extra special. With its inviting atmosphere and creative cocktails, it’s a spot I love recommending when you’re looking to sip, unwind, and enjoy a little time out on the town.

Explore + shop at Kinderhook Farm

Kinderhook Farm is the perfect local spot to visit one afternoon. Take a stroll down the farm lane, say hello to the chickens, sheep, cows, geese, and farm dogs, and enjoy a farmscape that’s always changing with the seasons. It was the perfect adventure for my little guy and such a great way to get out of the house.

Enjoy at Broad Street Bagel Co.

If you haven’t been to Broad Street Bagel’s flagship location yet, consider this your sign! This family-owned favorite is serving up kettle-boiled, hand-rolled bagels made with a 150-year-old Brooklyn recipe—and trust me, you can taste the difference.
